This year’s Annual Giving theme is taken from our 325th Anniversary celebration: Here for God. Here for Good. We are invited to reflect on our shared journey together over the generations while casting our gaze forward to God’s future for our community. There have been many chapters written in our storied history. Today we turn the page and begin a new one. It may seem counterintuitive in saying that we are at the creation of something new, but I believe that for this church to be here on this hill after 325 years, it has had to reinvent itself, generation after generation. What we are doing in our own time is no different than our forebearers. We continue the legacy of Edward Farmar and set our hearts on the pilgrim’s way, embarking on a new journey, reclaiming this land and this church as a home for God and God’s people in a new generation. Just as our spiritual ancestors were sustained by God and one another on their journeys, so too are we. It is the same faith that has led God’s people in our church for centuries that we now claim for ourselves. We take up their mantle by joining in the renewing work of the Spirit happening all around us.
