Dear Fellow Parishioner.
We want to inform you of an auto accident that damaged a number of grave markets in a portion of the St. Thomas’ Cemetery along Camp Hill Road near the intersection with Bethlehem Pike.
On Sunday night, November 24th, a motorist crossed Bethlehem Pike east bound Route 73 and apparently missed the turn onto Camp Hill Road. The vehicle went partly up the old drive next to the Corner House, traveled through the section of the cemetery between the Parish House and the Schoolhouse, and unfortunately damaged a number of memorial stones. Based on the details of the police report provided to St. Thomas’, speculation that the driver was over-served at a nearby restaurant/bar establishment are inaccurate.
The Church has notified our insurance carrier to assess the damages. We ask parishioners not to disturb the damaged area. We need the site to remain untouched until the insurance adjusters have the opportunity to complete their review and St. Thomas’ has notified once a complete assessment of the damage has been determined.
