We live in a day and age of challenges. I know a lot of folks who have entered triathlons and some have raced in marathons. My younger brother attempted to climb all of the highest mountains in Colorado this summer while I set out a goal to swim a 100 miles.
Goals are good. Challenges push us to reach heights that we would not reach had we not set ambitious goals before ourselves. The same is true in our spiritual lives. Going to church occasionally and dipping into the Bible once every blue moon is hardly rigorous for our spiritual life. If you’re looking to come more alive spiritually, we have two great challenges for you.
First, we are relaunching The Bible Challenge starting now! If you sign up, we will present you with a special book with meditations, questions and prayers by 115 authors from around the Anglican Communion as a free gift to assist you.
In 2011, more than 180 church member and 90 friends from beyond committed to reading the entire Bible in a year. It was outlandish and great! All of us were blessed. People described the great impact that this made in their relationships and above all in their relationship with God.
Over time, other churches and entire dioceses across the country and around the world joined us. To date, nearly a million people have participated in The Bible Challenge. We now offer:
· Read the Bible in a Year
· Read the New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs in a Year
· The Teen Bible Challenge
· The Parent/Child Bible Challenge
· Next Steps in The Bible Challenge.
So, we’re relaunching and we want you to be blessed by participating in it. Invite your friends and family to participate. It will transform your life spiritually in wonderful ways. All of our materials can be found in the church and parish learning center or by visiting www.thecenterforbiblicalstudies.org
Second, consider participating in The Worship Challenge. This is new. We are inviting everyone in our parish to worship for 52 Sundays in a row as long as they are healthy enough to attend church. If away, find a church, worship there, honor the Sabbath and connect with God.
Bring us worship leaflets from other churches. We will collect and display leaflets from far and wide. We want to learn about what you experienced and enjoyed in other places of worship. This will be an enormous gift to your spiritual life and to our church’s spiritual life.
Please let me know if you wish to accept The Bible Challenge or the Worship Challenge or both. You can email me at: firstname.lastname@example.org We will support you along the way and invite you to a festive banquet celebration next fall.
With every blessing, Marek
