We struck a home run in calling the Rev. Liz Costello to serve as our new Associate Rector. She is everything that we could want and more. We look forward to seeing her ministry blossom over the coming years.
During our search for a new Associate Rector, we were also fortunate to have many good candidates. One of them was the Rev. Daniel London, whom Emily Given recommended that we contact. Daniel is the priest in charge of an Episcopal parish in the San Francisco Bay Area. I had a wonderful interview by phone with Daniel, and we listened to several of his sermons. While it did not work out timing wise for Daniel to consider a move from the West Coast to the East Coast, we wanted to stay in touch. Daniel and his wife, Ashley, have family on the East Coast. I encouraged Daniel to consider being a guest preacher for us when his wife and he came out to visit them. He followed up, and now we look forward to having Daniel preach for us this Sunday.
In addition to leading his parish, Daniel has completed a PhD in Christian Spirituality and teaches courses in world religions and Christian social ethics at the Church Divinity School of the Pacific – the Episcopal Church’s seminary in Berkeley, California. He’s a young priest going somewhere and worth keeping one’s eye on. Come and enjoy hearing him preach this Sunday at 8 and 10 a.m.
With love and prayers,
