At St. Thomas’ Church we ask everyone to practice Worship +2. Worship is attending services regularly and celebrating your faith with your church family. The “+2” consists of one area where you are learning and participating in spiritual formation (adult forum, Bible Study, etc.) and the other one is in participation in a ministry. Many people, especially those new to the church, see all our ministries and wonder how and where to jump in. We thought we would help by giving you 10 easy ways to get involved (requiring little or no training) and no past experience. We will call them Tier 1 opportunities.
Helper at the Barn – preparing for Second Saturday Sales and selling or straightening up on the day of the sale.
Greeter – Welcome people to the church and help visitors find their way – approximately two times per month.
Adopt a Garden – our 43 acre campus needs lots of tending by many hands. If you would like to take responsibility for a patch (you choose the size) to weed and maintain, it is most needed.
Receptionist at the Parish Office – are you good with people and like to be part of a busy office scene ? We need substitutes as well as regular shift takers. Shifts are weekly or bi-weekly either 10-1 or 1-4. Men encouraged!
St. Thomas’ usher – help people during worship, take the offering, help with communion flow – serve about one time per month.
Event Assistant – if you can’t commit to a regularly scheduled ministry but would be happy to help at events as able, we have many to offer.
Coffee Hour Helper (Supplier/Baker) – Every Sunday in the Adult Forum we offer coffee and an assortment of foods. The coffee is made by our weekend sexton, but all the rest is supplied by parishioners. Most costs are reimbursed through donations collected.
Parish Call Writer – do you like to write short newspaper articles? We could use you!
Parish Call Photographer – there are many things happening at the church (all the time) and photos and videos really help tell our story. Tell us of your interest and when we would like something covered, we will ask if you are available.
Office Assistant and/or Mailing Help – Can you give a few hours either on a regular basis or as able? The office always has mailings and projects going on. Give us a day or two’s notice and we will gladly accept your offer of time.
Spring and Fall Clean-Up Help – Can you give a few hours one morning in the spring and/or one morning in the fall to help with the seasonal yard work needs on the campus? Enjoy fellowship, hearty snacks and good exercise while helping keep the campus beautiful.
