8th Grade: Confirmation Year
Using the Confirm not Conform curriculum, the 8th grade Sunday morning time is the focused year of Confirmation preparation. Confirmation is one of the seven sacraments of the church, where we express a mature commitment to Christ and receive strength from the Holy Spirit through prayer and the laying on of hands by a bishop. In Confirmation, we have the opportunity to reaffirm the baptismal promises which were made on our behalf when we were too young to speak for ourselves.
The Confirm not Conform program lifts up the individuality and uniqueness of each student, as well as guiding their journey with respect for their perspectives and experiences. The Confirmands will work with dedicated teachers, mentors, and clergy as they gain a new understanding of their unique role within the parish community. The Bishop comes late Spring to make Confirmation a reality, blessing each Confirmand, praying over and laying hands upon each in front of the whole St. Thomas community who will join the confirmands in the reaffirmation of the Baptismal Covenant. Truly a day of celebration! Any questions, please be in touch!
